This Season,
Jeydah Talks
“J-E-Y-D-A-H”
Named after Jada Pinkett Smith, my mother spelled my name “Jeydah” because she said she wanted everyone who meets me, to never be able to forget me. I think that still holds true til this day.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve kept countless journals, diaries, and sketchbooks (even though I can’t draw). I’ve always been infatuated with learning more, asking why people do what they do, and pushing past the boxes we’re told to stay in.
That curious little girl has grown into a woman who’s made a career out of being a chatty Cathy. I’m many things: a full-time news reporter, the eldest daughter, a first-generation American, and most importantly, a twenty-something who focuses on romanticizing the little things in life.
I believe in jumping in with my eyes closed, laughing loudly, and loving without limits.
Born to a Dominican mother and an African American father, culture is my foundation. I’m the perfect blend of hip-hop and bachata, big-city skylines and Southern living. Adaptability isn’t just a skill for me.. it’s a lifestyle.
The purpose of Jeydah Talks is simple: to share my thoughts, adventures, and honest conversations, and to create a space where Black women feel seen, understood, and empowered. This segment is a bridge between stories, perspectives, and the reminder that we are never alone in our becoming.
